Lotash Seed.
Many who travel to Bangkok make a beeline to Khao San Road to experience the intense fast lane there and in the district. Others do their best to avoid it. Lotash Seed on the Rambutree Road running parallel, just beyond the massage parlours and bars is a very special reason for everyone to make a trip.
Bangkok is one of the easiest of cities I know and my wife donated me a trip to be together, relax, eat, drink, and get massaged. We also discovered a gem of a place located in a one hundred year old building and named after the lotus and the owner’s girlfriend, Tash.
Tables made from wooden sticky rice pans from the north of Thailand bear thoughtfully prepared delights served on dishes bedded with fresh leaves. Try this honest, refreshingly delicate food, taste the individual ingredients and spices. No animal fats are used but the place is not just vegetarian and fine cocktails are available without using watered down spirits. No dogma about the food, no radical mission, just wanting guests to eat healthily, they are highly knowledgeable on all food topics. The boss, See, is happy to tell his patrons the story behind the dishes he serves and many culinary themes too.
I’m grateful for the discovery for another reason. At our summer home in Finland I love to work in the garden and on the old house. We have been waiting for a long time for an inspiration for the area in front of the sauna cottage. We found it in the middle of Bangkok. Stroll to the back of this petite, secluded restaurant into the anteroom and granite stones and slabs embedded in smallish pebbles await you. Perfect.
