Founded in 1885, the Museum of Decorative Arts strives to preserve European decorative art and conceptually walks that thin line between art and functionality.
Housed in a fin-de-siècle building , the museum permanently shows a wide selection of exhibits from the late antiquity to contemporary art. It is essentially divided into five sections: The Story of Fibre - The Textiles and Fashion Gallery; Print & Image - The Applied Graphic Arts and Photography Gallery; Born in Fire - The Glass and Ceramics Gallery; Treasury - The Metals and Miscellaneous Materials Gallery Time Machines - The Clocks and Watches Gallery. Additionally, the decorative arts museum offers temporal exhibitions.
