Gay and Lesbian.
Although the Czech parliament approved a law permitting homosexual partnerships in 2006 Czechs are not accustomed to seeing homosexual couples showing affection in public.
The best advice is to be discreet. However the country has become increasingly tolerant during the last few years and the gay and lesbian scene in Prague is now flourishing/ thriving. Many clubs and bars opened recently in the quarters of Vinohrady and Zizkov, for example the most popular bar Valentino, opened in 2005 or the British-owned The Saints, which also runs a webpage with information on everything a gay or lesbian tourist might want to know about Prague.
Some straight bars also offer special nights weekly or monthly, like the Celnice Club which hosts the largest gay party Pink Stars. There is a lesbian-themed art gallery and occasional theatre productions as well as events at the Gender Studies Library. A lesbian group that organises trips, lectures, sport actions, and film viewings is the Rozdilne Rytmy (different rhythms). There is also a lesbian sport club meeting every week.
